Uganda Olympic Committee and PIBID/BIRDC Unveil Routes for the Olympic Day TOOKE Run in Bushenyi

Kampala, Uganda.

The routes for the upcoming Olympic Day TOOKE Run were officially unveiled today ahead of the highly anticipated event scheduled for 20th June in Bushenyi District.

The run will feature three race categories designed to encourage participation from professional athletes, fitness enthusiasts, students, families, and the wider community:

21KM, 10KM, 5KM

The unveiling took place at BIRDC Secretariat in Kampala during the official press briefing organized by the Uganda Olympic Committee in partnership with PIBID/BIRDC as part of activities leading to the Olympic Day celebrations.

Speaking at the briefing, The Uganda Olympic Committee Nutritional Ambassador Rev Dr. Florence Isabirye Muranga emphasized the importance of combining physical activity with proper nutrition to build healthier communities and support sports excellence.

“Today’s well-nourished child is tomorrow’s champion,” she noted while highlighting the role of nutrition in athletic performance, child development, and national transformation.

The Olympic Day TOOKE Run seeks to promote active lifestyles, nutrition awareness, and the consumption of affordable, nutritious local food products, including TOOKE flour and other value-added green banana products.

Organizers noted that the different race categories were carefully designed to ensure inclusivity and broad community participation, allowing people of all ages and fitness levels to take part in the celebration of health, sports, and wellness.

The event is expected to attract athletes, schools, corporate organizations, health advocates, and members of the public from across Uganda.
