Our Alliance

A united partnership for
community health

Three organisations. One mission. The Olympic Day Tooke Run is made possible by a collaboration built on shared values and complementary strengths.

My commitment to the task ahead

Allow me with a quote from my mentor Edmund Haggai ; “Attempt something so great for God, that it is doomed for failure unless God is in it”. As Your Nutrition Ambassador, I will take that challenge with two big steps ;

1. Professionally lead the fundraising drives for our sportsmen and women to ensure that their nutritional needs are  comprehensively covered at international
standards with respect to both value and quality.

2. In partnership with you gallant sportsmen and women, I will leverage a formidable drive that will ensure that every weaning child in Uganda has access to affordable, but nutritious foods so that they can one day become winning sportsmen and women at your level in their time.

Yes, we may start humbly, with as little as a cup of Tooke porridge but together, with your support and my team at BIRDC, I am confident that we shall ignite a dynamic cogwheel of innovation at your beckon and call for the twin purposes above.
For God and My Country

The Three Distances

We are not new to this.
We are born for this.

The Olympic Day Tooke Run is the result of a powerful collaboration between three organisations united by a shared commitment to sport, health, and community development. Together, UOC, BIRDC, and TOOKE bring complementary strengths that make this event possible  and impactful.

When you register for the Tooke Run, you are not just a participant. You are a partner in change.

Guardians of Uganda's Olympic dream

The hands that lift rural Uganda

The Uganda Olympic Committee is the governing body responsible for the promotion and development of the Olympic movement in Uganda. UOC provides the institutional framework, sports administration expertise, and national platform that anchors the Olympic Day Tooke Run within Uganda’s broader athletic ecosystem.

UOC ensures the event upholds Olympic values of excellence, respect, and friendship  while creating pathways for talented young Ugandan athletes to progress toward national and international competition, including the Youth Olympic Games 2026 in Dakar, Senegal.

Their Role

Leading sports administration and national promotion of athletic events to support community health and Olympic excellence across Uganda.

BIRDC Community Outreach

The hands that lift rural Uganda

BIRDC is a community-focused organisation that works directly with rural populations in Bushenyi District and surrounding areas. Their extensive grassroots networks ensure that the Tooke Run reaches, includes, and benefits the communities it is designed to serve.

From mobilising local participants to coordinating community-based activities on race day, BIRDC bridges the gap between institutional event planning and authentic community participation. Their work ensures that the event is not just held in Bushenyi it belongs to Bushenyi.

Their Role

Providing grassroots outreach focused on rural development and enhancing authentic community engagement across Bushenyi and beyond.

Tooke Nutrition Advocacy

The voice of the banana revolution

TOOKE is a nutrition advocacy organisation that champions sustainable agriculture and community health in Uganda. Their focus is on elevating the banana Uganda’s staple food and one of its most important crops as a key source of nutrition for athletes, families, and local populations.

Through the Tooke Run, TOOKE connects banana farmers in Bushenyi District with wider market opportunities, amplifies the nutritional story of the banana, and supports Uganda’s athletes with evidence-based nutrition guidance rooted in locally available food.

Their Role

Championing sustainable agriculture and nutrition to support health in local populations, and connecting Uganda’s athletes with the power of locally grown food.

Our Alliance

Stronger together

The collaboration between UOC, BIRDC, and TOOKE creates a holistic, multi-sectoral approach to community health events that goes beyond sport. By combining institutional credibility, grassroots reach, and nutrition expertise, the partnership delivers an event that is simultaneously a sporting competition, a public health initiative, an agricultural advocacy platform, and a celebration of Ugandan community life.
